BOTTOMLINE:

Fast, powerful, pocketable and portable. Currently the best hard drive on the market for travelography. I only wish it came at a reasonable price in larger capacities (5+ tb). I find space and portability are far more important than durability for me. But that of course assumes you backup your files redundantly and obsessively as I do…that may be a stretch for most. Thankfully this includes 200gb of cloud storage though, which is certainly enough for most interim photography or videography assignments. And don’t skimp here.  In my humble opinion, this is the most important attribute of any setup…Fast, efficient, affordable, redundant, portable storage that allows you to spend more time shooting and less time on a screen. What good is the world’s greatest camera if you’re not out using it every day? A good storage setup and well-equipped computer setup for editing will save you more time than just about anything to put back toward creating. This is THE best option out there for now for anybody who creates a lot of high resolution files/footage, at least until higher capacity and lower cost cloud storage solutions and SSD drives become readily available with next-gen Thunderbolt and USB-C connection speeds.  Just make sure you backup your backup – common mistake nobody wants to learn the hard way.

But don’t wait.  You never know when a drive could fail and years of work evaporate with it.  Also, make sure you’re purchasing the “FAST” version of this drive.  The minor price bump is without question worth the considerable speed gains for transferring and backing up files on a regular basis.
